TenderTrap86I never said that the Catholic Church broke away from the Orthodox -- where did you read that? I said the opposite. I also did not say that Protestants share "the same faith." I also said the opposite of that. I would suggest you slow down and read people's actual comments.

-I'm more than happy to spoon-feed you the facts if that's what you want, but I doubt it is. If you don't think the Orthodox of Russia were persecuted, you're living in another world.-I don't believe I said anything like that about the Orthodox Church in the USSR. Do you think telling people that you're going to "spoon-feed" them facts making you look good or bad?

Read the history. Learn about the destruction of the Church of Russia under the atheists. Stop making silly assertions. They undermine your point and make you look bad. I'm more than happy to spoon-feed you the facts if that's what you want, but I doubt it is. Nice prooftext. I can do that too:Dioscurus, however, refuses to abide by these decisions; he is turning the see of he blessed Mark upside down; and these things he does though he perfectly well knows that the Antiochean metropolis possesses the throne of the great Peter, who was the teacher of the blessed Mark, and first and coryphaeus of he apostles" -- Theodoret, Epistle 86

-"Rock is the unity of faith, not the person of Peter."-And the Rock is Faith, not the Church. "Upon this rock, I will build my Church. Then Christ goes on to say to Peter that He will give him the keys, etc. in first person singular. When it comes to Paul, it's not the only time a pope has been rebuked by one of the faithful. Pope St. Pius V did this to his predecessor when he tried to place his teenage nephew in the College of Cardinals. It's not forbidden at all. Popes are human, too.

"Rock is the unity of faith, not the person of Peter." ~St Cyprian, De Catholicae Ecclesiae Unitate, cap. 4-5Doesn't get much clearer, does it?For neither did Peter, whom first the Lord chose... when Paul disputed with him afterwards about the circumcision, claim anything to himself unsolently, nor arrogantly assume anything, so as to say that he held a primacy, and that he ought to be obeyed by novices and those lately come. Cyprian, Epistle LXX concerning the baptism of heretics. It does!

The evidence the Orthodox have towards their view of the papacy is that the Church Fathers never explicitly identified Peter as head of the Chuch. But then how come the Orthodox at the Second Council of Lyons and the Council of Ferrara-Florence accepted papal supremacy and the Filioque when they believe those beliefs to be so heretical? And how come the Orthodox did not honor those two councils in which they chose to participate and finally concede?

Now show where Clement applies these words to himself as Pope of Rome. No one doubts that Peter was the pre-eminent amongst the Apostles. Your quote is pointless here.
